Are your existing Bathroom Windows suitable to have Built in Blinds?
In the vast majority of cases the existing windows in your bathroom will be suitable to have our built in blinds retrofitted into them, although there will be a very small handful of older windows that will not be suitable. It does not matter if your window frames are UPVC, Aluminium or Timber, most existing frames are suitable to have our built in blinds retrospectively installed. In order to be suitable to have built in blinds retrofitted, window frames must be able to accommodate sealed glass units that are 24mm thick or above, which basically means the sealed glass units that are currently installed into your window frames must be 24mm or above. This is because the narrowest thickness we can manufacture our integral blinds in is 24mm, although the standard thickness of our built in blinds sealed units is 28mm, as is the standard thickness of a sealed glass unit in the UK. If you are unsure whether or not your existing frames are suitable, then please contact us today, we offer free surveys whereby our professional surveyors will visit your property and ascertain whether or not your current frames are suitable to have built in blinds retrofitted or not.Â
Bathroom Window with Built in Blinds

Why have built in blinds for bathroom windows:
First it is important to consider the issues with conventional blinds for bathrooms:
- Wooden blinds & shutters - it goes without saying that regardless of which material you use to dress your bathrooms windows, they are going to get wet through moisture, and also through accidental splashes and spills. When wood gets wet it can warp and crack, it is also a porous material that absorbs moisture which can lead to your blinds developing mild and mildew. Your bathroom is constantly under wet and humid conditions, and therefore this dressing option simply will not last in your bathroom
- Standard venetian blinds - especially metal venetian blinds are likely to rust and crack as a result of constant exposure to moisture which condensates on your blinds, this over time destroys your blinds leaving rust and flaking the finish of the slats. All of these traditional blind dressing options also come with the same issues as all conventional blinds, they get dirty and dusty and are a nuisance and time consuming to clean, they also get damaged as they are exposed to the elements as well as can be physically damaged by humans and objects
- Common probems reported with traditional blinds are that they roll down but are difficult to roll back up, the blind rolls up and down but won't stay in place, the blind rolls up or down too slowly, the blind hangs unevenly, the cord is broken, and many other issues, most of these are as a result of the blinds being exposed to the elements
Why have Built in Blinds in Kitchen Windows
Built in Blinds come with many more benefits:
- The blinds are not exposed to moisture and water that come with everyday use of your bathroom, meaning that the blinds cannot become wet, rusty, and therefore can't become damaged like conventional blinds. Our built in blinds are blinds that are hermetically sealed in-between two panes of glass, making a sealed glass unit. A hermetic seal is both an airtight and water tight seal, meaning that once installed in your home, nothing can get in or out of the your new sealed glass units. The great thing about this is that even several years after they have been installed, your blinds will still look brand new like on the first day they were installed
- They cannot become dirty and damaged! Usually the window sill of your bathroom window/s is much desired space for storing bathroom related products, having a blind on your window sill not only takes up space, but also leaves it prone to the conventional blind being damaged by human contact and objects, the blind also gets dirty and dusty and is a nuiscance to clean. Our built in blinds are protected from damage and getting dirt by a toughened pane of glass on both sides, as well as a hermetic seal around the edges
