Window with blinds inside the glass For Windows & Doors In The UK

What are glass window with blinds inside?

A window pane with blinds inside refers to what is generically known as an Integral Blind, but there are so many terms used to describe the product, including integrated blinds, interstitial blinds, blinds in glass, internal blinds, built in blinds, enclosed blinds, and more, but they are all referring to the same product, which is an integral blind. An integral blind refers to a sealed glass unit, which is the glass or glazing element that is installed into window/door frame, which has a pleated or venetian blind sealed in-between the two panes of glass. So it refers to the entire unit, the finished sealed glass unit which has a blind inside the glass, it is then operated and available in either a manual magnetic or motorised system.

What are windows shades inside glass?

To understand exactly what insulated windows with blinds inside are, we have to first understand what a sealed unit is, and a sealed unit is simply the glass/glazing element that is installed into windows/doors. A sealed unit is comprised of firstly an inner pane/sheet of glass, which is most commonly 4mm toughened in the UK, then there is a cavity or space in-between the next outer pane of glass, this is most commonly 20mm in the UK, and it achieved and maintained using a spacer bar with runs around the perimeter of all 4 sides of the glass, finally there is the outer pane of glass, which is again most commonly 4mm toughened in the UK, a seal is then applied around all 4 corners of the unit, and this then gives us a finished double glazed sealed unit; double glazed as two panes/sheets of glass have been used. Window with blinds inside glass are exactly what has been discussed above, they are sealed units, but the only different is they have a venetian or pleated blind sealed in-between the two panes of glass, inside the cavity of the unit, and they are then operated in a manual magnetic or motorised system.

Magnetic window with blinds inside

Our magnetic double glass windows with blinds inside are our most popular system, a simple, functional, and easy-to-use system that is suitable for use in all types of windows and doors. Our magnetic double pane windows with blinds inside are operated using two small and discreet control blocks, the magnetic control blocks sit on the face of the perimeter of the inner pane of glass, you can choose to either have the magnetic controls on the left or right hand side of each glass unit. The control casings have magnets inside, which connect to magnets inside the sealed unit which are attached to the strings of the blind, but the strings and internal magnets are concealed out of view in the perimeter frame of the blind, which is also sealed inside the sealed unit. The house windows with blinds inside are operated using these two controls, there are two controls, one smaller control, and one slightly larger, the smaller control is for the tilt function, and the larger control is for the raise and lower function. Simply pushing the tilt control up and down will in turn rotate and tilt the slats, and sliding the raise and lower control up and down will raise and lower the blind inside the glass.

Blinds that fit inside windows refers to the blinds and the glass as a finished sealed unit. Sealed units are the glass/glazing element that are installed into window/door frames, and are most commonly double glazed, meaning they are made-up of two panes of glass with a cavity, or space in-between, the blind then is inserted into the cavity, and the sealed unit is then sealed and finished. Double glass windows with blinds inside are the same as the glass units you see in any window/door, the only difference is that they have a blind sealed in-between the two panes of glass, which is operated manually via magnetic controls, or also via remote control in a motorised system.

Glass window with blinds inside can last up to the lifetime of the sealed units when used correctly, which is around 20 years. We mechanically test our house windows with blinds inside to 10,000 repetitions, meaning that every week we take 2 samples and test them by machine, the machine raises and lowers the blind up and down 10,000 times, another tilts another blind open and closed 10,000 times, our blinds operate successfully to these 10,000 repetitions without fail, if you use your blinds once a day, this is equivalent to more than 27 years of use, proving the quality and longevity of our integral blind system. We also provide a full 10-year warranty for our insulated windows with blinds inside, the warranty covers the integrity of the sealed unit; protecting you against fog, condensation, and the unit failing, and also covers the blind and the blind mechanism, so in the unlikely event that something does go wrong, you are fully covered for 10 years with our repair or replace warranty.

Not only do our  replacement window with blinds inside last far longer than conventional blinds, with conventional blinds becoming dirty and damaged, with bent and twisted slats, but they also last far longer in perfect condition. Our replacement windows with blinds inside glass are protected on both sides with toughened glass, and sealed inside the unit with a hermetic seal, which is both watertight and airtight, which means that the blinds stay in perfect condition for their lifetime, so even after several years your blinds will still look brand new and in perfect condition, just as they were the day they were installed.

Our window blinds inside window are available in the most popular colours for blinds, it is important to note that our window glass with blinds inside are available in magnetic and motorised, and both systems have different colour options. Our magnetic window pane with blinds inside are available in White, Cream, Silver, Black, and Anthracite Grey, we also have two dual colours available, which are White Inside and Anthracite Grey outside, and White Inside and Black Outside. Our magnetic window panes with blinds inside have the slats, and also the headrail, and perimeter frame that is on the left and right side of the sealed unit, all of our colours are available for both the slats and the headrail/perimeter frame, you can choose to have your slats and perimeter frame/headrail the same colour, or you can have a colour contrast, the magnetic controls will also be the same colour which you choose for your perimeter frame/headrail. For example, you can choose to have your slats in Anthracite Grey, and your perimeter frame/headrail in white, which is a contrast, or you could choose to have your slats and perimeter frame/headrail colour matched – the same colour, you can choose whichever colour you like from our colour range for your slats and headrail/perimeter frame.

Our window shades inside glass are supplied or supplied and installed by us as a finished sealed unit, so it is the glass and the blinds as a finished sealed glass unit, ready to be installed into window/door frames. We do not supply the blinds by themselves, as mentioned above, we supply the finished and sealed sealed unit, ready to be installed into window/door frames, which is the glass unit with the blind inside, whereby the blind has been inserted and sealed inside the glass unit during the manufacturing stage in our factory.

Our window with blinds inside glass can be retrofitted into the overwhelming majority of existing windows/doors, to put it simply, as long as your existing window/door frames can accommodate sealed units that are at least 24mm thick or above, then our window with blinds inside the glass can be retrofitted. This means that as long as the current/existing sealed units in your current windows/doors are 24mm thick or above, then our blinds inside window panes can be retrofitted, this is because the minimum thickness that we can manufacture our blinds that fit inside windows is 24mm, although the standard thickness is 28mm, which is also the standard thickness of all sealed units in the UK today. If you are unsure as to whether your current frames are suitable to have our double glass windows with blinds inside installed, then please get in touch, as we are free surveys whereby we can pop down and check whether your frames are suitable, although in 99.9% of cases they will be suitable.

Our glass window with blinds inside can be used in all types of windows and doors, we have yet to come across a window and door type whereby our house windows with blinds inside were not compatible. As long as the frame can accommodate a sealed unit which is 24mm thick or above, then our insulated windows with blinds inside are compatible with that frame. Our replacement window with blinds inside are suitable for all types of windows including casement windows, bay windows, bow windows, tilt & turn windows, sliding sash windows, french windows, bifold windows, and more, as well as all types of doors including bifolding doors, french doors, sliding patio doors, and single doors. Our slimline control blocks allow you to operate your sliding sash windows and sliding doors with the sliding sashes coming into contact with the magnetic control blocks.

It is possible to install integral blinds into your existing window and/or door frames, you do not need to change your frames, it is a simple process of removing your existing sealed glass units, and then installing integral blinds – which are double or triple glazed sealed units with a venetian or pleated blind sealed in-between the two panes of glass. It is not possible to reuse your existing glass, we supply new glass units with a blind that is sealed unit the glass during the manufacturing stage.

Our integral blinds work excellently for sliding patio doors, in fact in our opinion integral blinds are the best option when it comes to dressing your sliding patio doors. The blinds do not take up any additional room on the face of your doors, they exist into your glass units, therefore the blinds do not get in the way of the operation of your doors, allowing you to slide your doors back and fourth without problems. Our slimline controls which sit on the face of the glass are slimline and therefore do not obstruct or prevent you from operating the doors either.

There are two systems available – a manual magnetic system and a battery powered motorised system. The blind in the manual magnetic system is controlled by hand using two small discreet control blocks, that sit on the left or right perimeter on the face of the inside pane of glass. The magnetic control blocks connect to magnets inside the sealed unit that are attached to the strings of the blind, but the strings and internal magnets are all concealed out of view in the internal perimeter frame. There are two magnetic control blocks on the face of the glass, a smaller control block that is used to tilt the blind open and closed, and the larger control raises and lowers the blind. Simply sliding the larger control up and down the face of the glass will in turn move the blind twice the distance that you move the magnet, allowing you to raise and lower your blinds quickly and with ease.

The second option is our motorised integral blinds, the blinds are operated via the battery module that sits on the face of the glass, usually in the top left or right hand corner, or using the optional remote control. Our motorised integral blinds do not have any perimeter frame, there is just a headrail at the top of the unit. The blinds are operated via a motor that is concealed inside the sealed unit, which is concealed inside the headrail at the top, so it is out of view. The motor is then powered by the battery module that sits on the face of the glass, the battery module actually sits on a contact pad that is stuck to the glass, an out-of-view cable runs from the contact pad to the internal motor, once the battery pad has been placed onto the contact pad, the contact pad is then out of view, and the battery module is secured onto the contact pad via magnets that are integrated into the contact pad and integrated into the battery module. Power from the battery module then runs to the internal motor. The battery module also has two buttons on its face, an up and down button, clicking the up and down button will tilt the blind up and down, holding the up or down button will raise the blinds up or down. A remote control is also available as an optional, this way you can control the blinds remotely using the two buttons on the remote control. You can connect the remote control to several blinds at once, allowing you to control several blinds at once at the click of a button on the remote control.

Yes we do, we supply and install nationwide.

Yes we provide free nationwide surveys, whereby one of our friendly expert surveyors will visit your property and carry out a survey to ascertain the accurate glazing sizes for your windows and/or doors, as well as showing you a sample of the integral blind unit, and a colour swatch.

We provide a full 10-year warranty for our integral blinds. When we say a full 10-year warranty, we mean a warranty that firstly guarantees the integrity of the sealed unit, protecting you against fog, condensation and the unit breaking down, the guarantee also covers the operation of the blind, and the internal mechanisms, giving you full peace of mind that your units with us are fully covered for 10-years. On supply or installation of your integral blinds, we also provide a 10-year warranty PDF certificate in case you need to claim on your warranty in the future.

Unfortunately, we cannot. The blind cannot be sealed in-between the glass on site at your home, it has to be inserted between the two panes of glass before it is glued and sealed, this is done in our factory, therefore we have to supply new double or triple glazed units.

The vast majority of problems that occur with blinds are due to the fact they are damaged and knocked about when they exist outside the glass like conventional blinds, because our blinds are sealed in-between the glass and cannot be tampered with, we have minimal problems, it is a very simple mechanism and because it cannot be knocked around, problems are very few, and the very few we have can mostly be solved simply using the magnets, without having to take the unit apart. However, do not worry, if you do experience any problems with the blind inside the glass, we provide a full 10-year warranty, so if anything goes wrong we will either repair or replace the blind.

When it comes to the glazing or glass part of your windows and doors (sealed units), it is perhaps more practical to consider which glass you are being supplied, as there are various glass options available with many being more energy efficient than others. For example, the most energy efficient glass available today is low emissivity glass, or low-E glass, this has a microscopically thin coating of metal oxide on one of the internal glass surfaces, this coating reflects heat back into the home but still lets in the light from outside. Low-E glass has proven to be 40% more energy efficient than conventional glass options. All of our integral blinds are manufactured using low-e glass as standard, we use Planitherm Total Plus, which is the UK’s leading low-E coating brand.

Having integral blinds only serves to enhance the energy efficiency of your home, this is because they provide an additional barrier between the inside of your home and outside. This additional barrier helps to retain heat inside your home, which helps drive your energy bills down and keep your home more energy efficient.

Our magnetic integral blinds are symmetrical as standard, which means that the aluminium perimeter frame inside the unit, is both on the left hand side, and the right hand side (with a headrail at the top), we do this so that you get a symmetrical finish, as having the perimeter frame down just one side looks odd and spoils the clean and sleek appearance of integral blinds. Technically, you only need to have the internal perimeter frame down one side, whichever side you have your magnetic controls, we put the perimeter down the opposite side purely for a symmetrical look, although it serves no purpose.

All of our sealed units with integral blinds are argon filled as standard. Argon gas is colourless and odourless, it is considerably denser than air and has a much lower thermal conductivity, about a third less than air. Sealed units that are filled with argon gas are more energy efficient than air filled sealed units, and they also allow the blind to operate without issues during the cold weather when glass deflects inwards.
