Built in Blinds are sealed units, which is the glass or glazing element that is installed into windows and/or doors, but they have a blind built into the cavity of the sealed unit. Built in Blinds are primarily double glazed units, therefore the blind is inserted and sealed in-between the two panes of glass. The built in blind is available from us in two options – either a manual magnetic system, or in an electric motorised system. Magnetic Built in Blind
Magnetic built in blinds are our most popular system that we offer. Magnetic built in blinds are operated by hand using two small control blocks that sit on the face of the inner pane of glass, there is a control for the tilt function of the blind, and there is a control for the raise and lower function of the blind, by hand simply sliding the controls up and down the face of the glass will in turn tilt the blind open and closed, as well as raise the blind up and down. As standard, both controls will be on the same side of the glass, either on the left or right hand side of the glass unit, however, if the sealed unit is small than 600mm in height, the two controls will have to be on opposite sides, and there is no enough height in the unit for both controls to be on the same side.

Integral blinds are essentially sealed units – sealed units are the glass or glazing element of windows and doors, the difference is integral blinds have a venetian or pleated blind sealed in-between the double or triple glazed unit. The blind is sealed in-between or into the cavity of the sealed unit, and then operated in a manual magnetic system, or a motorised system.
How long do integral blinds last?
Integral Blinds last far longer than conventional blinds because they are sealed inside of the double or triple glazed unit and protected on both sides by toughened glass. The only way the blind can become damaged is if the glass is smashed and the blind becomes accessible. Conventional blinds become scratched, bent, twisted and broken as they are exposed to humans, pets, and objects. Our integral blinds are guaranteed by us for a massive 10-years. our guarantee covers both the sealed unit, guaranteeing against fog and condensation etc, and it also covers the blind mechanism and operation. If you follow our user guidelines which are supplied on installation, your integral blinds can last up to 20 years and longer, depending how often you use the blinds, and how often you use the raise and lower function.
What colour blinds do you have available?
Our magnetic integral blinds are available in anthracite grey, black, cream, silver and white, we also have two dual colours available – white inside and anthracite grey outside, and white inside and black outside. All of these colours are available for both the slats, and the perimeter frame of the slats, which is on the left and right hand side, and the headrail at the top.
Do you supply just the blinds that go in-between the glass, or the blinds as well as the glass?
We supply the finished sealed glass unit, which is a double or triple glazed unit that has a blind sealed into the cavity of the unit. We do not supply the blind separately, we only supply the finished or completed double or triple glazed unit with a blind that has been sealed into the cavity during the manufacturing stage in our factory.
Can integral blinds be fitted into existing windows and doors?
Absolutely, our integral blinds can be installed into UPVC, Aluminium, and Timber windows and/or doors. Our integral blinds can technically be installed into any aperture or opening that can accommodate a sealed glass unit that is 24mm thick or above. The standard thickness of our integral blinds is 28mm.
Where can I use integral blinds?
Integral Blinds can technically be installed into any opening or aperture that can accommodate and is suitable for a sealed glass unit that is 24mm thick or above. Integral Blinds are very commonly installed into windows, bifolding doors, french doors, sliding patio doors, single half or full glazed doors and conservatories.
How do I clean the blinds?
You don’t, that is one of the best advantages of having integral blinds, they are hermetically sealed in-between the double or triple glazed unit, a hermetic seal is both a watertight and an airtight seal, meaning that nothing gets in or out. As a result the blinds cannot get dirty or dusty, and therefore never need to be cleaned, all you simply have to do is clean your glass every so often as you usually would with sealed glass units.
Are your integral blinds energy efficient?
When it comes to the glazing or glass part of your windows and doors (sealed units), it is perhaps more practical to consider which glass you are being supplied, as there are various glass options available with many being more energy efficient than others. For example, the most energy efficient glass available today is low emissivity glass, or low-E glass, this has a microscopically thin coating of metal oxide on one of the internal glass surfaces, this coating reflects heat back into the home but still lets in the light from outside. Low-E glass has proven to be 40% more energy efficient than conventional glass options. All of our integral blinds are manufactured using low-e glass as standard, we use Planitherm Total Plus, which is the UK’s leading low-E coating brand.

Are your magnetic integral blinds symmetrical in appearance?
Our magnetic integral blinds are symmetrical as standard, which means that the aluminium perimeter frame inside the unit, is both on the left hand side, and the right hand side (with a headrail at the top), we do this so that you get a symmetrical finish, as having the perimeter frame down just one side looks odd and spoils the clean and sleek appearance of integral blinds. Technically, you only need to have the internal perimeter frame down one side, whichever side you have your magnetic controls, we put the perimeter down the opposite side purely for a symmetrical look, although it serves no purpose.

Do I have to change my window/door frames to have your integral blinds installed?
It is possible to install integral blinds into your existing window and/or door frames, you do not need to change your frames, it is a simple process of removing your existing sealed glass units, and then installing integral blinds – which are double or triple glazed sealed units with a venetian or pleated blind sealed in-between the two panes of glass. It is not possible to reuse your existing glass, we supply new glass units with a blind that is sealed unit the glass during the manufacturing stage.
Can you have integral blinds in sliding doors?
Our integral blinds work excellently for sliding patio doors, in fact in our opinion integral blinds are the best option when it comes to dressing your sliding patio doors. The blinds do not take up any additional room on the face of your doors, they exist into your glass units, therefore the blinds do not get in the way of the operation of your doors, allowing you to slide your doors back and fourth without problems. Our slimline controls which sit on the face of the glass are slimline and therefore do not obstruct or prevent you from operating the doors either.
How do I use the blinds?
There are two systems available – a manual magnetic system and a battery powered motorised system. The blind in the manual magnetic system is controlled by hand using two small discreet control blocks, that sit on the left or right perimeter on the face of the inside pane of glass. The magnetic control blocks connect to magnets inside the sealed unit that are attached to the strings of the blind, but the strings and internal magnets are all concealed out of view in the internal perimeter frame. There are two magnetic control blocks on the face of the glass, a smaller control block that is used to tilt the blind open and closed, and the larger control raises and lowers the blind. Simply sliding the larger control up and down the face of the glass will in turn move the blind twice the distance that you move the magnet, allowing you to raise and lower your blinds quickly and with ease.
The second option is our motorised integral blinds, the blinds are operated via the battery module that sits on the face of the glass, usually in the top left or right hand corner, or using the optional remote control. Our motorised integral blinds do not have any perimeter frame, there is just a headrail at the top of the unit. The blinds are operated via a motor that is concealed inside the sealed unit, which is concealed inside the headrail at the top, so it is out of view. The motor is then powered by the battery module that sits on the face of the glass, the battery module actually sits on a contact pad that is stuck to the glass, an out-of-view cable runs from the contact pad to the internal motor, once the battery pad has been placed onto the contact pad, the contact pad is then out of view, and the battery module is secured onto the contact pad via magnets that are integrated into the contact pad and integrated into the battery module. Power from the battery module then runs to the internal motor. The battery module also has two buttons on its face, an up and down button, clicking the up and down button will tilt the blind up and down, holding the up or down button will raise the blinds up or down. A remote control is also available as an optional, this way you can control the blinds remotely using the two buttons on the remote control. You can connect the remote control to several blinds at once, allowing you to control several blinds at once at the click of a button on the remote control.

Do you provide a guarantee for your integral blinds?
We provide a full 10-year warranty for our integral blinds. When we say a full 10-year warranty, we mean a warranty that firstly guarantees the integrity of the sealed unit, protecting you against fog, condensation and the unit breaking down, the guarantee also covers the operation of the blind, and the internal mechanisms, giving you full peace of mind that your units with us are fully covered for 10-years. On supply or installation of your integral blinds, we also provide a 10-year warranty PDF certificate in case you need to claim on your warranty in the future.
If I just had new glass installed without integral blinds, can you fit your blinds into my new glass?
Unfortunately, we cannot. The blind cannot be sealed in-between the glass on site at your home, it has to be inserted between the two panes of glass before it is glued and sealed, this is done in our factory, therefore we have to supply new double or triple glazed units.
What if something goes wrong with the blind inside the glass?
The vast majority of problems that occur with blinds are due to the fact they are damaged and knocked about when they exist outside the glass like conventional blinds, because our blinds are sealed in-between the glass and cannot be tampered with, we have minimal problems, it is a very simple mechanism and because it cannot be knocked around, problems are very few, and the very few we have can mostly be solved simply using the magnets, without having to take the unit apart. However, do not worry, if you do experience any problems with the blind inside the glass, we provide a full 10-year warranty, so if anything goes wrong we will either repair or replace the blind.
Are your integral blinds argon filled?
All of our sealed units with integral blinds are argon filled as standard. Argon gas is colourless and odourless, it is considerably denser than air and has a much lower thermal conductivity, about a third less than air. Sealed units that are filled with argon gas are more energy efficient than air filled sealed units, and they also allow the blind to operate without issues during the cold weather when glass deflects inwards.
